John Dykes used to be so, so good once upon a time. I don't watch EPL much anymore on TV, but yeah Iast few times I did he wasn't that good anymore.

That's kinda become a norm these days. John Dykes, for example, was so good in the 90's and early 2000's. Ever since he returned to host English Premier League talk shows, he'z been just as annoying as everyone else speaking the commercial lingo.
Yeah, commercialisation has a lot to do with it. People are told exactly what they can and cannot tell, which areas they can venture into. 4-5 years back, during a series, there was a slip up. There was a teleprompter on the air. He kept telling the commentators on air what to say. It was literally every thing. 'weather is windy, stat x, stat y'. The commentators kept repeating that. People try to control how every thing comes out as they want the 'brand' to be a particular way. Sad stuff.

I remember during Test Match Special, Boycott was talking about how amazing Katy Perry's voice is. BBC must have arm twisted him badly to say this.
