Yeah I saw the recent Seddon Park guy Karl Johnson claimed they've very much narrowed down the science of laying on a 400-run HRV game in November now. ****ers. :p

Last March the carry had died out of pretty much every pitch I saw except Eden Park No. 2 though, as Phlegm said.

I take it the Windies is squad is likely to be the same one that's currently touring India? It's a pity as I'd really like to see Miguel Cummins get a bowl, and a series against a flimsy Kane-less top order is a pretty good place to make a debut.

Nah i wouldn't say this team is certain to tour NZ!!..Powell's form of late has been a little iffy while Brathwaite has been on fire so if Kieran doesn't contribute i can see Kraigg replacing him. Shillingford could also be vulnerable if he gets knocked around the park as the shadow of Narine is always lurking behind him.

Cummins is interesting but i'm not sure the selectord want to rush him at this juncture!!..he had a great first class season and a semi decent tour to India so i think they might let him have another first class season under his belt before he steps up!!..and he will because the lad really can move the ball around and has good pace.

Rampaul would likely be someone to come into the attack if our pace unit needs mixing up. No doubt though i'm really looking forward to this one!! :D ..i'd imagine the kiwis will want revenge after the blowout in the caribbean between the two sides and no doubt it will be tightly contested!!..

We scored 300+ in all three tests in the series we played in England last year so i think our batters are capable of adapting to the NZ conditions and the potential swing on offer.

Jesse to play in West Indies warm up match, it will be a good indication of where he is at. I see they are going to play a lot of the first team for the warm up match. I think these guys will be better off playing for the provences, given that only 6 WI guys will be here, give the up and commers a chance to make a name for themselves.

Brendon McCullum (c) - Otago Volts, Todd Astle - Canterbury Wizards, James Baker - Northern Knights, Dean Brownlie - Canterbury Wizards, Mark Craig - Otago Volts, Peter Fulton - Canterbury Wizards, Tom Latham - Canterbury Wizards, Andrew Mathieson - Central Stags, Hamish Rutherford - Otago Volts, Jesse Ryder - Otago Volts, Anurag Verma - Northern Knights

The only other FC game on at the same time is ND V CD which starts the day prior

Wtf is Baker and Verma doing in this squad except because they are from ND. The list of better and more deserving domestic bowlers is a long one just off the top of my head:
Bennett
Henry
Mitch
Butler
Duffy
Bartlett
Bates
Gillespie

Maybe Bradburn was worried his boys would miss out on a FC game due to the return of Boult and Southee

Also Raval and Redmond to open WI

I have just worked out what is happening
There are T20 games on so
Ak v Well 29/11 (Day 3 of warm up game)
Ak v Can 30/11 (Day after)
So they have pretty much excluded from selection all of the players who are likely to play in t20.

This only stokes my rage

I think the likes of Verma are in because the WI invitational side will probably be topped up with our better domestic bowlers so that our batsmen get proper preparation.

Anyway, I don't really mind them playing some bolters in tour games.

Batting looks ok, especially when you throw in Raval on the other team. It would've been nice to see at least one of the promising young guns in the bowling attack though.

I don't hold much sway with these non-FC warm up games, so I can't get up much care about the selections.

I hope it rains and the Windies go into the first test utterly unprepared. I have also wished the same thing on the blackcaps in the past when they disrespect their test series lead up and hung their players out to dry.

I don't think the WI are disrespecting their test series lead up; playing test match cricket against India probably isn't the worst preparation.

They're playing ODIs against India during their warmup for this tour though, so the ODI squad members won't be over for it.

Right, well I'm now thinking about this series as I couldn't give a monkey's about the limited overs stuff in India (reserve the right to change my tune on that, I've just finished watching our 'batting' in the 2nd test so I'm ever so slightly irritated).

I'm really up for this series. I believe that a loss will be disastrous for us and we really should be winning this but I don't think it will turn out like that. If we pick the same side that toured India I will be placing a bet on New Zealand put it that way. I think New Zealand will quite rightly fancy their chances after watching the last 2 tests that's for sure.

Darren Sammy must go and we desperately need Rampaul and Roach back.I think it's time to recognise our limited resources and bring back Dwayne Bravo to balance up the side. He must not be captain though as we need the option to play a proper batsman at 6 if we need too. For that reason I think Ramdin has to be captain. I really don't want to do that as his place should really be up for grabs but he has averaged 40 odd in the last 10 tests and we have got ourselves into a really awkward leadership position.

My test squad for this tour:

Chris Gayle
Kraigg Braithwaite
Darren Bravo
Marlon Samuels
Shivnarine Chanderpaul
Dwayne Bravo
Denesh Ramdin (wk, captain)
Shane Shillingford
Kemar Roach
Ravi Rampaul
Sheldon Cotterell

Reserves

Kirk Edwards
Narsingh Deonarine
Veerasammy Permaul
Tino Best

Deonarine or Edwards ahead of Dwayne imo.

This series is hard to pick. We're a much harder side in our own backyard but no KW for the first test and Taylor + McCullum going into the series with very little work could be disastrous. Plus we have to accept Sodhi bad days unless Vettori deems himself fit.

I wouldn't be surprised to see this series be low scoring and nail biting followed by our India series being a 0-0 draw because of late season pitches combining with bending over for the rockstars of cricket to produce a run fest.

I really don't think Edwards should play if he's not going to bat in the top three. Not just my Deonarine love talking either; Edwards is a specialist top order batsman if ever I've seen one.
