6 of them qualifying is too much. Should have limited to a maximum of 4. Ireland, Scotland and Afghanistan should qualify easily. Not sure about other teams.

Without being optimistic or chauvinistic, I do think The Netherlands are ahead of Scotland..... Quite a bit actually.

Ireland are by far and large the best associate cricket nation. Far ahead of all others. I guess Afghanisatn is #2, but not too far ahead of NL.

Wow, some old faces in that Kenya outfit. Anyone know if the Karim is Aasif's son? That'd be madness if Odoyo/Tikolo were playing with the son of a man they also played with. Another interesting fact is that the Odhiambo's are not related; however one is Odoyo's nephew, and the other is the brother of Lameck Onyango.

Considering there is going to be another preliminary round at the beginning of the tournament where only two teams will join the top 8 full members, I think it doesn't really matter how many qualify. The ICC have essentially done the same thing to the T20WC as what they're planning on doing to the CWC, yet they've just tried to mask it as the first stage of the tournament.

Yes, Irfan Karim is the son of Aasif Karim. The Ngoche's are all brothers with Nehemiah Odhiambo.

Reckon if we combined our powers we could have enough people with enough knowledge to write a detailed summary of most teams here.

Yes, after having seen that Bangladesh and Zimbabwe will also be playing in the preliminary round, I actually feel that only 2 teams joining the full 8 for the main round is actually less. The tournament will turn out to be a farce if none of them from this tournament plays in the main T20 games..

It gives a group of Associate nations the chance to have a prolonged Tournament against teams that are of a comparable standard - doesn't seem like a farce to me.

But shouldn't the World T20 give an opportunity for them to play against the top teams? They could have just included Bangladesh and Zimbabwe in this tournament instead of having such a long tournament for just having to play with Bangladesh and Zimbabwe.

The paranoiac in me is convinced that after 2-3 rounds of minimal interest relative to the big India, England, Australia games, the preliminary round gets chopped off together with the associates who play in it.
