Queensland have fielded superbly so far this innings. I'm guessing once again the match that isn't being televised is going to be closer.

Someone needs to have a word about Botha batting himself at 6. And by 'have a word' I mean 'physically prevent from from doing so'. A bowling all-rounder at 6 didn't work when Adcock did it, not going to work now.

Yeah Marsh is better than Hughes, that is for sure.

He was the favourite in the betting, hence the smart guy I told you so pic instead of the rolling in money jpeg.

see also: Miller at 4, Ross at 5 and the Weaver guy
Things just haven't worked out for SACA during the series. They probably would have banked on a fit Andrew McDonald and Callum Ferguson being available. I guess the one big positive has been Adam Zampa who had an excellent all round game today. Where's Gary Putland?

I thought it was worth a go originally. This is the first time I've ever seen Botha take more responsibility with the bat and it not work. Before he took up offies when he released he wasn't going to crack international cricket with what he was doing, he was a serviceable batting allrounder at First Class level; I believe he averaged about 34 with the bat at that point. More recently he put his hand up to open the batting for his franchise side in First Class cricket for a season so the younger blokes could all bat middle order - he did his job perfectly there getting consistent starts and shielding them from the new pill - and a couple of seasons ago in the IPL when he was asked to bat five he was one of the star overseas signings almost on the strength of his batting alone.

Having success as a First Class opener in South Africa and a T20 #5 in India shows some pretty impressive batting versatility for a bowling allrounder, so with Christian pissing off, McDonald injured and South Australia struggling to find decent batting options anyway, I thought batting six here could've been a good idea. It's obviously not paying off at the moment and I'd be looking to change it, but change it to what is the question. I definitely don't think a combination of Miller/Cooper/Head-if-he-plays is going to be good enough to cover ten overs if a specialist #6 comes in; maybe just dropping him down to 7 below Ludeman for now could be the go.
