First innings points safely secured for the Blues. People's Champ doing the business too

people's champ smashes Peter '1/61' Siddle to the midwicket fence to bring up yet another century

Good hit out for TPC and Gravey. Clarke going along neatly too without threatening to hit god mode just yet. Rogers was his usual dependability too. At least 4 of the top 6 will go to Brisbane with solid form, so good signs.

Loving Hartley stepping up to open for the Northern Mongs. His glovework has never been in question, but having the guts to go out and take on the new pill (and showing some ability at it) shows he's hungry and wants to take the Test spot when Hadds moves on (or is moved on). Don't know if it will be enough, but it's great that he's taking a risk for potential reward, not just sitting back whinging.

Love how many guys are putting their hands up with the bat this year already. Lynn, Dools, Forrest have figured out any or all of them could jag an Ashes Test. this year.

Ryobi must have played its part as it has given batsmen the chance to have time in the middle before the fc season starts

Warner and Tom Cooper too. Posibly playing the Ryobi effectively as a pre-season comp might prove a genius move in the end. We'll see how many of these guys maintain it post-Christmas.

Yeah I think there could be something in that theory. Decks are flatter too which helps, but the Ryobi acting like a pre-season comp for the Shield looks like it may have blown the off-season cobwebs out for a few batsmen.

Loving Lynn's form so far this season. Hopefully he can ton up today too and make a big one, would love to see some of these younger blokes put some real pressure on.

Edit: Speaking of which, Hughes fails again vs WA.

Edit: Yep, jinxed him. Horseface out for 81.

Dermo Abbott has more in common with Johnson than with McGrath
You mean Johnson has a bit of Dermo Abbott about him? We all know who the better bowler of that pairing is.

I'm making the Burgey call - Dermo Abbott to make 5,000 Test runs.
