***Official*** New Zealand in Bangladesh & Sri Lanka 2013

NZ squads can be posted in here on Friday. No official itinerary to put in this OP btw, all I can recall is a draft for the first Test to start October 8. Champions League final in on the 6th.

NZC might have to help Bangladesh do a Cricket Ireland, become the first Tests in history to be streamed live on Youtube.

Cricket: Black Caps confirm Bangladesh tour going ahead - Latest News - Radio Sport - New Zealand's Premier Sports Station

The Black Caps will be touring Bangladesh as planned, despite reports casting a shadow on their tour in October.

The series doesn't have a broadcaster.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board floated the tender in the middle of last month but hadn't received any bids from local television networks by last week's deadline.

It's now expected they'll enter talks with broadcasters who expressed an interest in the rights, but failed to place a formal offer.

A New Zealand Cricket spokesperson says the tour is locked in and a party will be heading to the country shortly to check out facilities as planned.

New Zealand Cricket - Guptill out of Bangladesh tour

    Guptill out of Bangladesh tour

Batsman Martin Gutpill has been ruled out of the BLACKCAPS tour of Bangladesh in October due to finger and ankle injuries.
The 26-year-old fractured a bone in his right little finger while batting in the Caribbean Premier League recently. Since arriving back in New Zealand, specialists have advised Guptill that he will not require surgery but the finger needs to be immobilised in a splint. A full recovery is expected within three to five weeks.

However, BLACKCAPS physiotherapist Paul Close has been monitoring a right ankle injury that Guptill has been carrying for the past year. Close says they have now been advised that surgery is required and this will happen next month.

The recovery from the ankle operation will mean Guptill will miss the Bangladesh tour with a possible return for the tour to Sri Lanka in November.

The Test squad for the Bangladesh tour will be named by BLACKCAPS Head Coach Mike Hesson and new General Manager National Selection Bruce Edgar on Friday 6 September in Auckland.

Didnt Guptill have surgery earlier in the year as well, on his finger after he pulled his hammy in the win over england.
Seams odd that they did not deal with that than as well

Shakib picked up injury again. Hopefully he will be available by the time series starts.

Bangladesh Cricket is not in good state at all. Never was but it's more pathetic this time around. There are fixing allegations, problems with BCB elections and venues for WC T20s. Bangladesh A team toured England recently and lost to every county sides with only one win against England Lions. Only Anamul and Naeem scored some runs and almost all the bowlers were taken to the cleaners during the tour. DPL is starting soon before the series so hopefully players can drill some practice.

Bangladesh and NZ aren't mouth watering sides, can see why no one wants to sponsor the games,or at least the tests.

Generally they don't take two keepers. Ronchi is as good, if not better than Broom as a batsman but you need to cover Fulton/Rutherford as well.

Isn't Sodhi a little too soon? Not long out of school I hear, I think he needs a few domestic seasons to mature a little, particularly given he's a wrist spinner, really needs some time to learn his craft IMO

he's a spare keeper though, so you can pick an extra batsman rather than keeper

He'll learn ten times more touring Bangladesh than sitting in NZ or playing Plunket Shield. Bruce Martin, Todd Astle etc aren't much better as it is so I'm happy giving the guy a bit of experience when the conditions suit him and the opposition are one of the weaker test teams.

I wouldn't under-estimate the Bangladeshi batsmen if he ends up playing a test they could tear him apart a bit, very good players of spin. Agree he would be an ideal squad member though

Terrible ODI performances aside, Ronchi's scored five first-class centuries in ten Plunket Shield games since he moved over here. Throw in the recent A tour century against India and you have six in eleven games.
