They had Lara, Chanders and Sarwan in the team for a while there, I would say their bowling was fairly poor.

Between 2008-2011 our main threat was a left arm spinner who didn't take second innings wickets.
Apart from O'Brien and the occassional Martin spurt it was pretty shocking. Martin, Placeholder, O'Brien, Vettori is a meh attack. It's only in the past 18 months with the emergence of Southee, Boult, Bracewell and Martin's last hurrah that we could claim to have a threatening attack.
But I do agree having no openers and three decent batsmen (one being a number eight and another being a problem child) during that period was the biggest problem.
