Zaheer Abbas would have to be worth a shout. Average of 47 and SR of 84 in the early 80s when scores and strike rates were much lower. Ranked no 2 in best ever rating (just behind Viv). & he would've had to bat against the WI quicks

The date on the article is Jan 2003. I seem to remember that soon after world cup 2003 (which would be March 2003) when wisden updated its ranking, Tendulkar had overtaken Richards in ODI rankings. And I think they stopped updating their ranking soon after that.
