DoG's Top 100 Test Batsmen - 75-51

Days of Grace

International Captain
Amazing! 8 great innings for VVS
The reason why I rate these two highly is pretty clear from this... theyre wildly inconsistent but just look at those performances... geniuses both of them
I'm actually surprised there weren't more tbh. I expected the 60-odd he got at Mumbai 2004 on a ridiculous pitch and Pietersen's hundred in Sri Lanka last year to be in there. How much were they rated, incidentally?
9.81 for Laxman's 69 at Mumbai (lack of runs made with lower order being the reason why this isn't nearer the 12.50 benchmark for a great innings.
10.84 for Pietersen in Sri Lanka last year. Sri Lanka at the moment are a third-tier opposition, hence the lower rating.

Three great middle-order players from days of yore sandwiched between two modern batting giants.

Will be fascinating to see how far up the list Cook ends up at the end of his career (if indeed he does rise up the list).
