ATG ODI XIs- nation by nation

Red

The normal awards that everyone else has
Thought this could be a bit of fun. I'll start with Australia's greatest ODI XI. You can argue if you want....

- Adam Gilchrist
- Mark Waugh (5)
- Ricky Ponting
- Dean Jones
- Steve Waugh (5)
- Mike Hussey
- Andrew Symonds (5)
- Shane Warne (4)
- Brett Lee (2)
- Nathan Bracken (3)
- Glenn McGrath (1)

Went for M.Waugh over Hayden and Watson (just).

Could've gone for Lillee or McDermott over Bracken, but Bracken was a great ODI bowler.

Leaving out Bevan will draw some criticism, but Steve Waugh was a great ODI bowler and fielder, and I think Hussey did what Bevan did just as well, but with bigger hitting power when needed. Symonds a must for me- batting, bowling versatility and fielding.

Symonds, Hussey, M and S Waugh and Ponting all brilliant close fielders. Jones, Lee and McGrath excellent outfielders.

I'd have Bevan in for Waugh, and maybe someone in for Bracken (lacked longevity, for me), but that's a good lineup.

Great players should play in great teams.

Dennis Lillee had remarkably good ODI stat's, although admittedly, he didn't play a lot of games like McGrath:
63 matches
103 wickets
Econ = 3.58
Ave = 20.82
SR = 34.8

And in comparison;

Glenn McGrath:
250 matches
381 wickets
Econ = 3.88
Ave = 22.02
SR = 34.0

Early era bowlers stats are hard to gauge in ODIs. Lillee was good in it, but to compare him to McGrath on stats is difficult.

Tough to keep out Hayden and M Waugh. Latter can bat at 3 pushing Hussey out of the team though.

I know it's a bit scary having Klusener and Donald in the team but we'll have to trust them to learn from their mistakes.

Duminy? He has done nothing. Can't even remember him playing a match winning knock.

I love it how some posters insert totally random average players into alltime XIs. Nash was comparatively poor in limited overs cricket.

I'd replace Nash with Mills. Chats is close, but I'm going for the extra batting. Apart from that, a very good team.

England look pretty weak compared to most of the other teams. If there was a WC involving these sides Australia would be ****ing unstoppable.

Before 2000 or something England played like only three ODI's a season IIRC.
