The Suspended XI
With Warner and Ramdin each being stood down/ suspended in the past week, thought we'd try to come up with a combined XI (in any format of your choosing) of players who've been brought unstuck by their own misadventure.
Let's make it post-1970, and the criteria is acts of misbehaviour/ stupidity which have led to a player being stood down, rather than going off to play WSC or on a Rebel Tour, or an act of principle such as Flower and Olonga. Fire away.
Quick crack using the powers of Google...
Herschelle Gibbs (agreed to underperform and then made heaps of runs of very few balls)
Dave Warner (punch on)
Shane Watson (failure to do homework tasks)
Mohammed Azhurradin (cheating)
Hansie Cronje (bookmaker $$)
Andrew Symonds (pissed)
Dinesh Ramdin (claiming a catch he dropped)
Shane Warne (drugs his mum gave him)
James Pattinson (homework)
Dennis Lillee (kicking Javed Miandad in the arse)
Brendan Taylor was suspended for not showing up to practice a few times. It was supposed to be a two-year ban but ZC realised he was the only decent player they had left and rescinded it. Perhaps he could be the keeper?
Jesse Ryder (numerous)
Doug Bracewell (drinking with Jesse and altercation)
Has to be at international level? Viv was suspended for two years of FC cricket for almost causing a riot after disputing an umpire's call.
Nah, FC or domestic is good enough.
Over rate bans don't count right?
Shane Bond suspended for 2 years for playing in the ICL?
Ricky Ponting (being a regular Davey Warner)
Nah, falls within the same sort of thing as WSC.
