Yeah, besides there's plenty of difference in there. Hadlee with his outswingers and relentless accuracy, Bond with his inswing and pace, Cairns with his extra height and the ever present threat of his slower ball. The attack doesn't lack variety just because all the bowlers are right-armers. No-one criticises South Africa's bowling attack for being samey, despite the fact that Steyn, Philander, Morkel and Kallis are all right arm quicks.

That team is no push over and certainly capable of a 1980 style home-ground upset.
Len Hutton - Jack Hobbs - Ted Dexter - David Gower - Walter Hammond - Frank Woolley - Ian Botham - Alan Knott - Hedley Verity - John Snow - Fred Trueman

Victor Trumper - Bill Lawry - Don Bradman - Greg Chappell - Allan Border - Keith Miller - Adam Gilchrist - Alan Davidson - Shane Warne - Dennis Lillee - Glenn McGrath

I think we did pretty well there.

Picking Taylor and Williamson to push for selection out of the current lot.

*insert joke about Pews and his ability to run things on this site*
    NRL Tipping Champion 2014

Over 0.2: Putland to Nevill, OUT, no run, full ball swings in late to crash into his pads. Nevill is almost falling over trying to get bat on it but can't. Huge shout for LBW and Umpire Martell eventually raises the finger! P.Nevill - lbw b:Putland 0 (1 ball, 1 minute).

Yeah but plenty of people criticise them for never having a decent spinner...

Especially subcontinental teams who get rolled for <100 by Steyn playing while at home on "spin friendly" pitches

Clearly you don't need a decent spinner to be successful. I thought the Windies established that? A good spinner will obviously help, and be a great asset. If you don't have a good spinner though, its better to just go with the good/great quicks you have.

One of the aspects of a spinner is that they increase the effectiveness of the pace attack by (presumerably) causing the batsman to readjust their technique at the beginning of each over.

It is a simple fact that the West Indian attacks of the 80s were more potent with 3 quicks and a spinner/medium pacer, than a full-frontal assault of 4 quicks.
