This news doesn't surprise me at all tbh. I just read that the Indian Olympic committee has just had corruption sanctions lifted against them.. Inherent and routine..

I don't think we need to get too much into Indian politics lets stick to cricket discussions.

I somehow still have a bit of trust in him. I doubt if he would do that and I don't think there was "clear evidence" against him. He gets into a fixing controversy just weeks after he takes a dig against the BCCI for the way it handled the slapgate and supported Harbhajan. It can be a conspiracy against him which ended up doing more damage to the BCCI.

There were constant reports about 3 CSK players(a senior and 2 juniors) in the national team being involved in fixing and that their names will b revealed. But all of a sudden the news just vanished and no info was given.

That wasn't what I was referring to. Dhoni went on the record stating that meiyappan wasn't involved in the day to day affairs of CSK. That's been comprehensively refuted by the investigation. Dhoni lied to cover his boss's ass. Plain and simple. He could just have kept silent like every other dick out there, but he tried to be too clever in cementing (pun unintended) his position with the big bosses at the BCCI.

The story is based on a page allegedly from the Kitty interrogation report prepared by G Sampath Kumar (Suprintendant of Police, Railways, Trichi) and mentions India captain MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina. "Kitty [the bookie’s alias] spoke of his knowledge about Vikram Agarwal,Gurunath Meiyappan and cricket players MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and a few others, and another person in Rajasthan (suspected to be one of Jaipur brothers) in match-fixing," the report says. Dhoni would certainly qualify to be an important Indian player, as would Suresh Raina, at least in limited-overs games and the IPL in particular. The Mudgal Committee’s final report also mentions that six India players have been accused of collaborating with bookies. While the committee does does not name the players, saying at this stage the allegations are only allegations, it recommends all the allegations be investigated. The names have also been submitted to the Supreme Court in a sealed envelope. It now seems the report contained some potentially explosive information, which is perhaps why it was not shared with the Mudgal Committee. Dhoni certainly deserves the presumption of innocence but given how it appears he misled the Mudgal Committee on Meiyappan's role with CSK, it is clear there is something rotten in the state of Indian cricket. That's why it is time Dhoni made a clear and unambiguous statement to the public. It was something he should have done when the scandal first broke, but he chose instead to stay silent. It is now a case of better late than never. The Indian cricket fans who have showered him with their devotion deserve that much.

In his deposition before the Supreme Court-appointed Justice Mudgal IPL Probe Committee, excerpts of which is available with PTI, G Sampath Kumar, formerly Superintendent of Police, Q Branch (now SP, Railways, Tiruchi) had said that Vandana Vikram and Kitty (Uttam Jain alias Kitty, a Chennai based bookie) were suspected to be having strong UAE and Singapore links. The official made the deposition on January 19 in Bengalore. "I was summoned by the panel. After instructions from my chief, I deposed before it and told them all that I knew," Sampath Kumar told PTI. The Q Branch police initially investigated the case before it was transferred to the CB-CID. "As is known, both at least have a common friend in UAE who is probably using the number 971563545777." A detailed study of the numbers used by the persons "may substantiate or otherwise" the points raised above. The official lists many international phone numbers under the "probable abroad links; Australian links" sub-heading including the number 61403919733. Also, in his deposition the official says that Vikram and Kitty had carried out a "transaction" at a hotel in Chennai on the night of April 27, 2013. "Kitty spoke about this meeting at Q Branch CID office on 23 May 2013. He stated that in this meeting he came to know through Vikram that Meyappan said to Vikram that CSK player....... agreed to score 140 runs and to lose in the match against RR at Jaipur match on May 12 2013. This was communicated to Sanjay of Rajasthan over phone by Vikram," the deposition reads. The Supreme Court-appointed Justice Mudgal IPL Probe Committee on betting and match- fixing sought further investigations into the match between Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals held in May last year. The panel also accused Tamil Nadu Q Branch Police for not providing the copy of interrogation report on bookie Uttam Jain alias Kitty. "On the issue of whether Mr. Gurunath Meiyappan was involved in match fixing and spot fixing, the issue has not been investigated thoroughly by the ICC-ACSU, BCCI's ACU or the CB-CID of the Chennai Police even though some information was available for such an investigation to be conducted," the panel had said in its report.

It would probably be the biggest blow till date for cricket.The game's most popular player getting caught would just kill the game. Though I feel he is not stupid enough to fix games, if he did I do not see any probe going after him. Too big a fish.

The status quo suited the SLC. Legislate increased share of the revenue to all the full member boards, make the SLC irrelevant to the BCCI in vote terms, and this means the SLC have to now actually pull up their pants and balance the books and take full responsibility for paying their players on time.

where does SLC come into this? I certainly didnt say they are any better than BCCI but is that justification for corruption?
