Kapil's innings at Port Elizabeth vs SA in 1992, seriously think that this innings should be amongst the top 10 best test innings ever. And i think quite a few knocks by Kapil haven't got the recognition it deserves.
Also hoping that some day Rob uploads one of his innings against the brutal WI bowling attack...

I think they got a lot of praise. His efforts in Pakistan that lead to series win were not given enough recognition. I think he hit 3 hundreds and a fifty in 4 innings.

Andrew Strauss's 100 at The Oval in 2005 is under-rated imo. Perhaps it's forgotten in the drama that followed, especially KP's 158, but it was virtually chanceless on a day when the rest of the batting seemed overwhelmed by the enormity of the situation. If he'd gone cheaply, we'd have struggled to make 200 and Aus would probably have taken the game by the scruff of the neck.

Which series are you talking about? Or are you talking about the 1978 series in India?
And smalishah's avatar is the most classy one by far Jan certainly echoes the sentiments of CW

Yeah we don't crap in the first world; most of us would actually have no idea what that was emanating from Ajmal's backside. Why isn't it roses and rainbows like what happens here? PEWS's retort to Ganeshran on Daemon's picture depicting Ajmal's excreta

Still think Taylor's 144 vs WI is WAY underrated. Wisden had it in top 20, deservedly so.

After that knock everyone started putting Kallis ahead of Ponting on CricketWeb. Its probably underrated now in that people have forgotten it as time as gone by (its been less than 3 years though lol) but at the time everyone was like "HOLY **** KALLIS IS A BEAST!"

Probably just the fear of winning, I guess... just complete **** captaincy

From recent times - Marlon Samuels 123 v NZ. Didn't even get a nomination in CI awards.

What about Greenidge's unbeaten double on the last day vs England in 84 at Lord's(?)

    Such a great knock.

I reckon both these innings are pretty underrated, particularly the latter. It's easy to forget that the biggest reason for India holding on to number one for a long while was not only because of several circumstances falling in together but as much due to Laxman doing something absolutely miraculous whenever we appeared ****ed.

In 2010 alone, along with those two innings - Laxman also scored a fourth innings ton to get us a win out of a sticky situation in Sri Lanka and a 97 to save us the game from 17-5 against NZ.

Without that insane streak of crisis batting, we'd have drawn against Australia, lost in SA, lost in SL and drawn against NZ at home in 2010.

Apart from that, I reckon Kim Hughes 101* is the greatest innings of all time.

Totally agreed that they're great innings, particularly the Durban knock. That pitch was a really tough one to bat on, no one apart from Laxman looked remotely comfortable. I don't really know if it's underrated though... I consider it one of Laxman's finest efforts overseas and many other people do as well and Cricinfo did name it innings of the year.
