Draft: Best of 1980s and 1990s

Red

The normal awards that everyone else has
Going for my keeper- Syed Kirmani, one of the greatest glovemen ever and a very handy bat with a couple of test tons, and also my spinner, Pat Symcox, a combative all round spin bowler with attitude.

Monk's XI

- Mark Taylor *
- Richie Richardson
- Graham Thorpe
- Sourav Ganguly
-
- Kapil Dev
- Syed Kirmani+
- Wasim Akram
- Pat Symcox

Knott and Kirmani are the two best and entertaining keepers that I've seen live. Although Rod Marsh had the bestest and loudest appeal, especially when taking catches from spinners. It's a shame that Kirmani is not quite up to being a No.7 batsman or I'd try and pick him more often.

CricZo XI

1. Nathan Astle / o

Steve Waugh, Carl Hooper and Nathan Astle can bowl so I guess I will go with a wicket-keeper or another batsman as my No.7

International Captain
Round 12 is the free one - any player who played a Test match between 1980-1999 inclusive. The order will be randomly generated (I think?)
Yup. And you will generate the order Watson :)

I go for the kiwi geography teacher who scored 6 centuries in 19 tests as my 10th pick to bolster my middle order.

Gavaskar
Wessels
Richards
JF Reid
Gomes
Houghton (wk)
......
Cairns
Streak
Roberts
Qasim

Now I don't know if I should take a fifth bowler since I have eight century making batters in the line up already.

Round 10

01. Monk - Pat Symcox
02. Harsh - Lance Klusener
03. Kingkallis - Carl Hooper
04. Pothas - Chris Broad
05. Bagapath - John F Reid
06. Log Hop Cassidy -
07. Justo -
08. Fredfertang -
09. Watson -
10. AndyZaltzHair –
11. Himannv –
12. Morgeib –
13. Coronis -

19 tests? From what I remember - your criteria doesn't allow this or else I'd have picked Reid ages ago...

The conditions are:

Between Jan 1st 1978 and Dec 31 2002.

they should have played at least 40 tests
or
scored a minimum of 1500 runs
or
made at least 5 scores of 50 and above
or
taken 75 wickets or more
or
taken at least 5 four-wicket hauls
or
taken 50+ catches
or
won 2 "man of the match" awards
or
won one "man of the series" award
19 Tests and 'only' 1296 runs. But Reid does have '5 scores of 50 and above' (ie 6 x 100 and 2 x 50).
