Looking back at the OP I think its going to be a real struggle later on to fit the criteria - in the spirit of what bagapath is looking to achieve I would suggest the point is going to have to come when we can pick anyone, irrespective of how many Tests they actually played, as long as their entire Test career falls within the start and finish dates he set

During the 80s and 90s each major country used the following number of players (approximate);

Australia = 75
England = 115
India = 75
Pakistan = 80
South Africa = 30
Sri Lanka = 70
West Indies = 50
TOTAL = 495

To make 13 teams for the Draft we need 'only' 143 players.

I think that we will probably (but not definitely) have enough cricketers to go round - but it may have to mean that Phil Tufnell gets a run in someones side.

Is this a bad thing? I don't think so as it won't hurt if a few Nevilles get included for a change.

At least 146 batsmen made 1500+ runs in this period and at least 88 bowlers got 75+ wickets according to statsguru. There may be some overlaps in this but most likely not more than 10. This doesn't factor in players who made some of the other qualifications so we should be quite fine.

EDIT: A few players on each will actually be excluded since they didn't play the full 5 years(Guys like Gilly and McGill for example). So those numbers can be lowered slightly. We should still be quite fine though.

But how many of those 495 tick all the boxes?
Don't know. But since we will be discarding roughly 70% of the total pool of players then surely we should be able to at least reach R10? Perhaps we could stop there and all decide what we want to do for R11?

Damn - it appears that my attempt to find a way to select Sylvers is doomed to fail :p

I was going to try to get McGill included somehow but after seeing those numbers didn't think it would matter in the end. Only misses the qualification period by 1 month and ticks all the other bowling boxes. Wrong place wrong time as always.

After a quick check he took 81 wickets and played his last test in 1985 so he should be good.

I suppose that we can assume that Jeff Thomson is Andy's pick since he is both eligible and available.
