They actually replaced him in their squad so I think he's out for the lot.
Injury replacements have been changed to make things a lot more flexible. Now I think it's just If you're injured, you can get a replacement, regardless of injury length. So I wouldn't read too much into it (rule change probably partly because of the Pattinson thing, and partly because at one stage last season the Sixers had like 12 players to pick from because they had 6 players out, but none of them were out for the season)

Whether or not it's the best selection option (probably is), it's going to be a weakness if they run with it. I've always been a fan of having five frontline bowlers in T20 cricket because you don't need a genuine batting depth for twenty overs as such - just some blokes who can play little cameos at 7 and 8 - and with the batsmen going hard for the whole innings, it's pretty hard to hide 20% of your overs somewhere. One bad over can be so, so damaging as well, so it's not just a matter of saying "well it's not Part-timer X's day together, Part-timer Y can have a long bowl instead" because you commit to one guy bowling 25% of his quota at a time.

It's probably still the way they should go, but it's the weak point of their side.
Yes it is definitely an area other teams should target, but Luke Wright and Glenn Maxwell are capable of bowling 4 overs between them very easily and having 7 very capable batsman is useful too. I actually think that Maxwell as a T20 bowler is slightly underrated, I wouldn't be surprised to see that he goes for less runs per over than some of the specialist bowlers at the Stars.

There is something about Adam Gilchrist and Ricky Ponting having to say Bunnings Warehouse replay that makes me cry a little inside.

Maxwell doesn't bowl in Vic one dayers anymore, last 2 seasons, whenever he bowls in t20's he always gets smash, taken 0 wkts for 150 in first class cricket ty.BTW forgot Dave Hussey.
Would rather Alex Keith there to develop his medium pacers,Hastings is a go i guess.
With Vics medium pace bowlers of Hastings and Mckay until the one dayers, and the 5th option of Huss,Maxwell and Wright expect Vics bowlers to be tortured. With their bowling they can't win lest be 2nd.

Not sure why a different team (Victoria) and different formats (ODs and Shield) have anything to do with this. Also, Maxwell bowled the other night going for just 6 off his over, proving that he doesn't always 'gets smash'.

BAM..

What whole season are you referring to brockley? You seem to think that OD and Shield form for Victoria means more than I think it does for a Stars player playing in T20. I had a quick check at Maxwell's career record and his economy rate was better than all of the other guys who bowled for the Stars the other night. Fair enough to suggest Keath though mate, I would like to see him be given another opportunity also.

Another thing, interesting to see everyone in the tipping comp go for the Scorchers over the Gades, apart from me. The 'Gades top 4 surely wont fail again and I think they have a decent bowling attack. I wonder if they are seriously considering bringing in Pews' boi Solomon Mire for Will Sheridan if they feel as though they need someone who can bat a bit at 7. If not, plenty of options such as Fekete, Fawad Ahmed or Haberfield can make a straight swap for Sheridan who has been so bad in the Ryobi and Bash that I doubt he will get another game so quickly.

Mire would be a brave call as I reckon his bowling would get completely tanked. Unless they want to back Finch to bowl four overs.. :p

I just think the balance of the side would be better with Keith @ 7 direct swap for Faulkner.
Yes stars have options, but with Hastings the bowler who had a poor season last year can't afford a weak 5th option.

Sheridan opening the bowling was an unexpected move. Piss poor decision but unexpected.

I have no idea whether this opinion is popular or not but I actually don't mind Mark Howard, he's a bit blokey but he's no James Brayshaw and knows a bit. Even if he's mentioned the Furnace 50 times
