***Official*** New Zealand in England series 2013

Elliot is a perfect no. 5 for NZ. Accumulates well and is adept at rebuilding an innings after an early collapse.

Edit: should have kept my stupid mouth shut. Dumbass.
Despite the bad timing it's a good point. I thought he was a terrible selection when he was recalled because his domestic performances had really, really tailed off but he's been killing it, so fair play.

I had a chuckle when one of the Sky coms (can't even remember who) said New Zealand have an old fashion ODI team with non-specialists and listed Elliott as one before going on to call Woakes a specialist bowler. Elliott bats five or six and barely bowls - in fact he hasn't taken a wicket since 2010 - while Woakes is the absolute definition of a bits and pieces cricketer, batting 7 and operating as the fifth bowler. I like Woakes, but it was a silly point.

Pretty sure it was Nick Knight...
Yeah I'm hearing Knight's voice in my head when I'm recalling it, but when I'm trying to remember something stupid someone has said I often hear Nick Knight by default so I didn't know how accurate it was.

.... but there's just something inherently bits n pieces about Elliott. Even if he's not bowling, it's just his state of existence.

Does work as a bit of reasonable filler at five between Taylor and McCullum though.

That was one of McCullum's ****est shots in a long time - a flashback to old McCullum where he plays completely the wrong shot in the wrong situation. We should still win this but it gives England a chance.

Echo the commentators and describe McCullum as having played some VERY sketchy shots since coming in. That should be enough to get us over the line
Weird innings, tbf. Tried to attack too early before he'd earned the right to do so.

NZ need to be a little careful here.

Franklin sees bouncer coming, prepares to make a hash of playing of it, starts turning head away, then realises it's a Dernbach bouncer and swats it for a single. Good work Franky

Indeed. But still, I think England have had a winning streak at home in ODI series for a while now, so it wouldn't be particularly nice to lose one to the #8 team on the rankings.
