***Official*** New Zealand in England series 2013

He averages 20 with the bat and 50 with the ball, he's a street bum.
A street bum that goes for 4.8 per over.

Still want to know who would be a better bet. Apart from Vettori obviously.

Hira? Patel? Woodcock? Bhupinder Singh? Beard?

As opposed to.....
Believe it or not, all of England's batsmen have been awesome in ODIs over the last year or so. You've obviously not caught them on a good day but that doesn't mean **** really. The test of course will be whether they can actually manage to perform as a unit in a one day tournament that their opposition is taking at least a little seriously like the Champions Trophy coming up, and if they don't aim up then someone like Hales will get a look in.

But regardless of what you think of Bell overall, in his last 20 ODIs he's averaging 52 and striking at 80. He's opened in nearly all of them too so he can't accuse him of being a downhill skier like some of his Test knocks. There's no way you'd be thinking of dropping someone who was doing that sort of job for you at the top of the order.

The fact that he's your best option doesn't preclude him from being merde.

Just bugs me.

It's like hearing talkback callers saying "drop all the batsman, they suck!".

Yes, they do suck. But who is better? McCullum, Williamson, and Taylor are the best batsmen in the country. And Ryder sometimes. No point in dropping them as whoever replaces them is worse.

Woakes may have made the 2nd highest score but I don't think he really advanced his cause. It was a pretty lucky/flukey innings

There's a big difference between saying a player is gash and saying he should be dropped though.

Does anyone ever bat after winning the toss before an ODI in England?

Arguably one of the most toss-dependent countries in the world for limited overs. The second innings deck after a bit of sun looks so much easier to play on than the morning dew in the first.

Nas not knowing whether to go with Ronchi or Ronki.

Thought blue helmets looked a bit average but the blue caps look ****ing appalling.

Word of advice - when trying to drive a ball through mid-off, it helps to move the front foot forward
