Yes shame the Lions New Zealand game isn't a TV game especially after the reciprocal coverage of the warmup games in New Zealand. I'm assuming it would almost certainly get better viewing figures that the domestic games stuck on sky at the time.

Yep and most importantly everyone would get a timely reminder of how ****ing useless Bopara is. Assuming you don't blink and miss his innings.

Hey Kiwis, never fear, Derby have put out a weakened bowling attack, so no matter what the results: fans, media, board can blame the ECB for losing badly, it worked for India

Cricinfo is only listing 10 NZers in the team. No Southee, Boult or Martin. Mistake? Some reason?

Reckon 30/3 would be closer to our standard over the last few years. In comparison, this is a solid foundation.

It's a against a second string county attack, though.

    No Bartin is playing.

Can't load bbc.co.uk's front page with my NZ IP btw, so that commentary link's not geoblocked.

Just asked Shane Bond whether it's harder to be a player or a coach. He answered emphatically - a player. Interesting.

Kane looking in good touch here, playing nice and straight. Happy that out lads should get two knocks now that we're batting first.

I feel a bit for the Derby lad at fine leg. There is a group of 20 guys who must be his school mates giving him a seriously tough time!

Footitt beats Rutherford outside off stump. Extravagant shot early on. Better after that. 5-0 after three overs.

That's Derbyshire FIRST XI for you. The attack they fielded today is something I'd consider as 4th or 5th string by county standard, the only decent bowler is Footitt, who's bloody fast but also bloody inaccurate, and has taken 4-65 nonetheless.

And there's also Burgoyne, a young spinner that is probably the first player in ages out of Derbyshire who MIGHT have an OUTSIDE chance to play one day in some format for England. He's still only 19, but looks promising. Been economical today, a few wickets would have been nice but whatever.
    It's the pitch, stupid.

Reasonable hit-out today, would have been nice to see the openers score more but hey, we're used to that. Happy that Brownlie did well and Guptill didn't....
