Opening batsmen and spin is always ripe for hilarity, eh?

Guppers's technique is shocking against the turning ball tho, it must be said.
Not much better against the moving ball tbf.

Awful from NZ but this is ruthless from England.

we are a seriously disgraceful batting unit
You can see what he was thinking - having seen two people bowling through the gate, his first thought would have been to get miles across and stop it hitting the stumps - but he clearly took it way too far. Just rattled.

how has bob carter kept his job for so long btw? he can't complain about the players he has to work with because these are some of the best you'll get from nz. unless the pitch is flat or the attack isn't very good this lot implode, taylor and watling aside.

so since nz's batting collapses were the fault of taylors captaincy, are 45, 68 and this McCullum's fault?

i don't think either captain is at fault for this ftr, but applying the same line of argument used by nzc in recent times...

A batting coach should be able to tell the selectors that Guptill is not test quality right now, and may never be. He's had forever to work on his glaring technical deficiency and just hasn't done anything about it.

how involved do bowling coaches get with the batsmen?

bond is both a good coach and bowler. he could give our lot a lot of advice on the numerous holes he would exploit if he bowled to them.

and i would love to know how some of these guys manage to look good against southee/boult etc in the nets
