Really swung things back our way. Was going to call it honours even but I reckon we shade it now. Another wicket though and I could change my mind,

Ah there's some good old fashioned Swann time-wasting, he took about 20 minutes out of the game against Durham - but they still lost :)

Well you'd expect Durham to do well given the lack of international callups for their players

Really good from these two

Reasonable score for England, but they should be very pissed off about how they got there. Yet again far too many wickets were unearned.

Good day for England and a great one for Yorkshire. Very good stand between Root and Bairstow to get us out of the mire. Be good to see Swann and Prior have more fun in the morning and take us past 400.

Surely the series is safe with only 3 days left, just a question of whether it ends 2-0 or 1-0.

We'll still lose if we get skittled second dig. NZ only have to bat for 4 sessions to match this innings and they've got all 20 wickets left to do it with.

Think we will get another 300 runs in the match with our remaining 13 wickets so we are safe as we will lose more play on Monday and Tuesday.

If we can get to 400 then we should be aiming for getting them all out for 250 and make them follow on

Sounds like England got awar in the last half hour. Ah well. Sounds like Southee and Boult swapped guardian angels for the day.

While it wasn't the worst day for NZ from the looks of it, this does rather show the problems of not picking a specialist spinner. Once Williamson was hit out of the attack there was basically no way that NZ were going to make the full 98 overs. And McCullum will soon get a match ban if this keeps up.

It's quite clear that Bracewell is nowhere near where he needs to be as a 3rd or 4th seamer. Eminently droppable IMO.

And since he was picked after having not done much at domestic level, I would like us to extend that opportunity to Milne. If any coach knows how to work with him it's Bond.

good stat from Zaltzman:

Last 10 Englishmen to score Test 100 aged 22 or younger: Root, Cook, Atherton, Gower, Botham, Cowdrey, May, Edrich, Compton, Hutton.

Not a bad list.

Nah, England is 50 runs off safety I reckon, given the lost day and notwithstanding the time which can be made up. What's the forecast like for the next three days anyways?

Well done to Root. Ain't no ton like a home town ton.

Lets be honest, the difference between an egg and Root is you can beat an egg, but nothing eats a root.
