LOL. That horrific call by the umpire's going to be costly now isn't it? 5 off 1 needed.

The 'length ball' that pitches one yard in front of the batsman. The fact that a bowler misses their yorker length when that happens - it's as though all the bowlers choose to occasionally bowl this 'length ball'. Likewise when earlier in the match someone drops it a little short. The above nonsense that a single/two is sensible cricket and that you should always look for it after you've hit a 6/4. The experience fallacy which is used ad nauseam to explain away everything.

It reminds me of watching the horrendous BBC commentators on tennis, where nobody ever hits a bad shot or makes a random error. There's always some convoluted psychological bollocks to explain how someone won the point.
Every commentator and pundit seems to be absolutely obsessed with yorkers as well. Any ball at the death that goes to the boundary which isn't a perfect yorker and they start talking about how the bowler has "missed their length" or how horrendous it is that they've bowled length. Of course, they never moan about the length if a short or length ball gets a wicket. Fickle wankers.

And you'd also think people who have been commentating on the IPL for years wouldn't think death bowling is the same as it was in the 90's as well. Sure, that guy on strike can ramp it over the keeper for six if it's in the blockhole, and he can't play the short ball to save his life, but the bowler still has to get every ball as full as possible. FFS.

Punjab were robbed with that no ball call. Kukarni's over may have been one of the worst last overs ever in the history of T20 cricket. Sure there have been last overs that a) went for more, and b) cost the team the match... whilst this didn't (only thanks to **** umpiring) but Punjab were 9 wickets down ffs. All Kulkarni had to do was not bowl beamers or wides, and he bowled beamers and wides.

Even that last ball could have been spanked for 4. So so lucky.

It's been a good IPL for Praveen Kumar, Vinay Kumar, Mishra, Harbhajan and even RP Singh. This could be India's T20I bottom five. If you want to sneak in Test regulars, fit in Ashwin and Umesh in place of Bhajji and RP. A surprise success this season, albeit limited, is Ajit Chandila from Haryana, playing for the Royals- a very impressive economy rate to offset the lack of wickets. Then again, the oft-unfit Yuvraj Singh has as many wickets at a slightly higher rate, but picked them more quickly.

Getting in the batting charts has been difficult for the Indians, with the exception of the usual suspects Gambhir, Rohit Sharma, Karthik, Dhoni and Kohli- with teams filling their top five with overseas players, Indians often don't get a chance unless it's all messed up and the lesser players find themselves on the bench sooner than later.

All the T20 veteran bowlers- Balaji, Irfan, Dinda, Munaf- are struggling this season. The only exceptions are the much-mocked RP Singh and Vinay Kumar, who are chipping away plenty of wickets, and Harbhajan, who's in decent form this time around.

Cricket: Retired Michael Mason joining IPL - Sport - NZ Herald News

Jeez, I wonder how many backroom handies phlegm had to give in order to secure Mason an IPL deal...he hasn't played any professional cricket in over a year.

Edit: ah, turns out it was just **** reporting.
