It's the idea that Guptill looks awesome but scores no runs. He's **** despite having a (seemingly) good technique.

Fulton, on the other hand, looks terrible at times but still finds a way to score runs.

Well to me Guptill doesn't look awesome and has a terrible technique.

guptil's defensive system is flawed thus he always gets out.

But he has a sexy straight drive - and some other classy shots that give the illusion of a good technique.

Hardly ever get to examine Guptill's technique tbh, always getting out too quickly.

well, yeah, but every batsman's straight drive looks sexy.

The problem is that he tries to play a straight drive to every ball.

Ruthers, probably. Fulton, not yet, but I hope he proves me wrong as he did in this series.

I would like to believe Rutherford will have the goods but like most NZ cricket fans I have seen many players hyped up to become the next best thing only to fizzle away. I hope Fulton will continue his form but against quality bowlers on a moving deck I think he will be shown up.

As for Guptil, I think he should just stick to the shorter forms of the game.

    With Vettori?

I think Guptill's future in the first class game is at #5ish in the order.

Or that, but it's pretty cramped down there.

Rutherford looks like a no.5. Latham too,

It's like ten thousand number 5s when all you need is an opener.
