Lyon to NSW would be interesting. Pretty much locks Copeland in at 7 while Lyon's available.

Well done to @vicpremcricket Ryder Medal champion and @bushrangers player Clive Rose: he's landed a contract with Tassie. Much deserved

With or without Lyon that could be the case. With Doug, Hazelwood, Starc, Sandhu, and Cummins in the mix he might not get a game otherwise.

The acid could well be on Henriques to step up and bat top 5 which isn't something I would previously thought he was cut out for, but if he wants to play tests again it might be the way to go. Could solve some problems if he did succeed there. Nev looks like he'll be out of the gloves again next summer and with Carters seemingly on his way may find that top order bat is all that's on offer for him. Perhaps him and Maddo back to opening (I know it hasn't been hugely successful in the past) Smith and Rohrer at 3&4, Moi Moi 5, Hadds 6, Copes and Sok 7&8 is the best we can put on the paddock?

Interesting as I think his stronger suit is ODs and obviously that's Dohertys forte too. Hope Rose is now Tassies number one 4day spinner.

Yeah, I think this spells the end for Nev in the One Day format TBH, Carters definitely the #2 wicketkeeper there. Agree with your line-up as well, that looks like the composition of the top 7 that I'd go with. Nev could well be displaced outright by Dan Hughes or Scott Henry (if the latter hangs around), which is hugely unfair on him. Such an underrated player.

I wouldn't be surprised if Dougeh moved states (or if I were him, I'd be moving). No idea who'd take him (Tasmania, given the BBL?), but he's doing nothing up here and I wouldn't be surprised if he isn't in the top 5 or 6 quicks in the state. Dramatic fall from grace.

Zampa leaving NSW is the worlds biggest 'no skin off my nose' case for me.
Agree with that. It's a symptom of 'oh **** we have to find another Warne' syndrome. Would love to see him develop into a genuine Test quality leggy but it's far from a sure bet. He can find out at Adelaide as easily as at Sydney.

just spit balling here. muirhead was 12th man for Vic like 3 matches in a row, and then finally made his shield debut first match after the BBL, and then got 'dropped' for Fawed and Rose....or was he suspended . dun dun dun.

but yeah with rose leaving and muirhead likely to stay, that dropping becomes really weird. or maybe they just picked rose for his batting.

Surely the last thing NSW needs is another Test player that never plays for us for half the season. Not sure why we will want to sign Nathan Lyon, especially with our depth in bowling.

We need batsmen not bowlers. We will never learn. Another season without any title here we come.

I guess Cilve Rose is replacing Jason Krejza. I doubt he will play over Xavier Doherty at the start of the season, once Xaxier playing ODIs he should jump ahead of him. But with Holland, Muirmead and Fawad in the squad, it is good move for him.

Was about to say that Benchmark. Very good signing if any player under CA contract joins your state.

Rose did break his finger at one stage last year, around that time too I think. The BBL game where he got whacked in the last over was his first game back!

It was weird (playing Rose against QLD), cos Fawad did all the bowling while Rose did very little, they probably didn't want two wrist spinners in or something.

But Lyon is costing NSW nothing. He has a CA contract so it's not like he's taking up a spot...

The problem is not the cost, the problem building team combinations and never having the right balance. If you keep having to change your side once a month to accommodate a Test player, you never build any combinations.

Also another Test bowler means we are forced to play with 5 specialist bowlers. Yes Copeland and O'Keefe can bat. But if you look at Tasmania they have similar standard batsmen in Butterworth and Gulbis at 8 - 10. They can do this as they haven't stacked their squad with bowlers. But they still have enough bowling options to win matches.

The NSW sides that have won previous comps, have been the sides with better batting line ups. We always have bowlers coming through the ranks. The other thing those side had was he best non Internationals as well.

Nathan Lyon played 5 games last season. What is benefit if each game he plays you are forced to bat one short, in a batting line that is already weak.

Find me SS NSW have won without many Australian players in the squad.

Having Australian contracted players has nothing to do with it. The problem occurs when there's a decent prospect who isn't performing at state level but is instructed to play by higher powers.

I can't remember which one said it, but the (new) CEO/Chairman talked about 'getting back' some players who left NSW/were missed by NSW when they took over, so I guess Lyon fits right in with that

NSW will play 5 or more bowlers no doubt but I'd imagine only Lyon, Starc and Cummins if fit will play for sure. The other couple of spots are up for grabs with Hazlewood, Sandhu, Copeland, Bollinger and SOK fighting it out or two spots.

I agree with the person who said Bollinger should move states, not sure who would pick him up though, perhaps he'll tour the world as a T20 specialist sooner rather than later.

Harinath advised Warn his main priority was to ensure the state built its new era upon a three-fold foundation - an exceptional coach, captain and manager. He said another priority was for the state to lure Blues-in-exile - Phil Hughes, Usman Khawaja, Jackson Bird and Ed Cowan included - ''home''.

''That's a priority, getting our players back to NSW,'' he said. ''It is the right time to get them back but I think it is most important to put the right structure in place and have a good ambience to encourage the players to return.
Rixon ready to take reins, says Harinath

there we are. act boi ryan carters kinda fits in here too. although i guess it's actually Harinath saying it. whatever.
