I think he'll be reasonably happy with 186 - he hit a 6 the ball before he got out, with only a few balls to go, so fair play to him. I would have thought Yorkshire would want a few more, 650 perhaps, before trying to put the Derby batting under pressure.

Back to your earlier point about why he didn't play last week, always the way. The young players always have to wait a chance at the start of a season as the senior men get first go. It is wrong but happens everywhere every season.

Surprised he's still getting a game ahead of Rafiq. Guess they figured that the seamers would do most of the damage in early season conditions anyway and that they might as well go with the better bat, because Rafiq is clearly the better spinner at the moment.
