This story certainly caught me by surprise

Will Lanky now become the spiritual home for all Gooners fans?

Will the gooners be miffed that their Emirates isn't called Emirates New Highbury or some such?

Will Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger now be soulmates?

Personally I couldn't give a tuppenny toss as long as Lanky can sign some decent cricketers

Been calling it New Highbury since the outset, tbh.

I know naming rights are important revenue stream and all that cobblers, but it's still a bit yuk, isn't it?

Jesus kicked the money lenders out of the temple and for what, etc, etc...

Better question is why would Emirates Airlines care about Manchester when they market Dubai as a 5 star destination?

Because it's a big local market where Etihad and Abu Dhabi have a strong foothold thanks to Manchester City?

In Australia, the ABC (being a non commercial station) always refer to stadiums/grounds as their original name, which I love.

Kardinia Park (instead of Skilled Stadium), Princes Park (instead of Optus Oval), Football Park (instead of AAMI Stadium) & Docklands (instead of Etihad Stadium).

Emirates sponsor bloody everything, sponsor The Riverside already don't they?

Better than the Ageas bowl though, sounding as it does like a specialist toilet seat for the elderly.

On this one, no, because the Emirates has never been called anything else.

Rangers are possibly looking at a stadium rename deal, but one of the conditions is that Ibrox has to be in the name somewhere.

Not too bothered by this sort of thing. Not by this example anyway, as the original name has remained intact, sort of.

Wouldn't be too thrilled if the name was completely replaced though. If I cared that is.

Is it the 'Supersport' or 'Park' bit that offends? Or possibly both?
It's the "super". "Super" makes everything sound tacky and/or ****, like "SuperTest" or "that's super".

Except Superman, he was great.

Anyhow, hi Goughy, good to see you posting mate.
