    I really don't think the batting front in WC is at the moment something to shout about its very mediocre to be honest I reckon the next decade will look not too dissimilar to international cricket captain in that you'll end up with many more low scoring matches.

    So now that they're all in the 25-28 bracket, in no particular order

    Smith
    Root
    Kohli
    Rahane
    Williamson
    Mathews

    Genuinely finding it hard to split them now. Root's been absolutely brilliant at home but besides the Windies he hasn't got much chance to play overseas, Kohli's been good but he's got that shocker of an England series on his record while Rahane's scoring tons everywhere he tours. Williamson, Rahane and Smith seem to have the most complete record atm, but I honestly can't rank them atm.

    I legitimately liked Jamshed too. Now it's fair to say the best thing about his career is his parody twitter account.

    Yeah I liked him too. He had a 30-40 run innings in SA where I thought I was impressed with his temperament. Shame he became utter ****e.

    WI= Darren Bravo and Powell

    NZ= Wiliamson

    England= Root and Bairstow

    Powell- had a poor start to test cricket but has been getting better and better, hitting three tons of late and is scoring runs in the ODI's, and the way he plays is extremely stylish, he must be the youngest opener at test level too,

    Ah, even given all the chaos he created, there are still times when I miss WW.

    Nah **** you, the overwhelming consensus in this thread was that Pujara was the best.

    What you could have quoted was my rubbish call on Williamson.

    If I have to rank them in terms of their perceived potential today (perceived by me), I'd say

    1. Rahane
    2. Smith
    3. Williamson
    4. Mathews
    5. Root
    6. Kohli

    All of them are very good tbh.
