If we're trying to close an innings in limited time, why do we have a bloke who is statistically the worst bowler to play for an extended period of time and has already conceded 4 rpo for no return this innings bowling from one end?

No way.. These guys are actually looking real good at the crease. His pessimism is very much justifiable IMO.
We miss you, Fardin. :(. RIP.

Mitchell Starc is only a couple runs from averaging above Hughes.

He's currently ahead of Cowan, Smith and Henriques too.

Not really because all the countries who'd on the one hand vote to make all matches unofficial would still line up to tour India....so I'm not sure what that'd accomplish. What would need to happen is that England, Australia, SA, SL, WI (or at leas the first three) all have to agree not to play India at all, in ODIs, Tests, etc.

Good luck with getting that to happen over something as small as UDRS.

The only sad thing about that is that we've got no clear favourites in shield to take the places of the batsmen

It would help if we picked a batsman not connected with the middle of the road NSW Shield side once in a while.

If this pair adds 50 runs more, then Australia have a great chance in this match. 5th day pitch will be hard to chase runs on.

Bet365 is offering better odds on an Aussie win than yesterday 33/1

Would help more if some guys who aren't in or originally from NSW knew which end of a bat to hold.

Or we could just get Liam Davis, Michael Klinger, Peter Forrest (pretend he's not from NSW), George Bailey, and Tom Cooper (see Forrest) into the side seeing as they did so well on the A Tour and then in the Shield...
