Nah look if you bowl well you bowl well. The fact is on Indian tracks he is a smart bowler, very disciplined and can change his pace cunningly. He would have done pretty good (not this good tbf) against most other teams on these wickets too. Outbowled Ojha and Bhajji.

Of course he won't do well in South Africa, but he's been selected to play a test in India. And playing he is doing!
Yeah it's really not that different from Siddle taking wickets against India and Sri Lanka in Australia and then bowling straight pies here that the batsmen could play with the off stump. Neither Siddle nor Jadeja are good enough at their arts to be threatening in all conditions but not that many Test bowlers are.

He's bowled really well in this series on pitches that have suited him and he's cleaned up. Sure the terrible standard of batting has made him look better than he is but if he bowled like this against South Africa or Sri Lanka in these conditions he'd have still had a good series. Not averaging-15 good, but good all the same.

have to admit i'm impressed with the fact that he hasn't taken more than three wickets in an innings, pretty ****ing consistent

By the way, Cowan's 20-50 scoring pattern is absolutely awesome.

When people pick on batsmen's scoring patterns, they usually exaggerate for effect but Cowan ****ing does it every time.

In other news, Jessica Gomes the product of a Singaporean Mum and a Portugese Dad. Not even a German geneticist could have done better than that.

OK here's a list of guys that have definitely played themselves out of an Ashes series

Cowan
Watson
Maxwell
Wade
Doherty
Khawaja (if he cant get a game for this shower then he's no hope)

I'd still pick Warner and Hughes but purely on potential
