Munro's a completely different type of player to Jones tbf. He's aggressive, you'd never see him with a SR of 39 in test matches.

His average was good granted. But he was selfish and would not rotate the strike quickly enough. In tests this was not an issue.

Proudly against the bring back Bennett movement since he is injury prone and won't last 5 days.

    Not an international cricketer.
I still can't believe he's played test cricket, it honestly boggles the mind. He's the most gumby looking hack I've seen play in a long time, zero technique and it just doesn't help that he just looks like a munter either.

As for tonights game New Zealand were just bullied. Apart from McCullum not a single New Zealand batsmen has the backfoot game to take on Finn and Broad, it's just too easy for them.

The comparison was the homebaked technique and initially looking completely at sea at int'l cricket. No more than that.

I was trying to see a silver lining!

    Worst ODI player ever though.
heh, I never knew that. I wish Jones had put out an autobiography as he seemed an intriguing character. Mark Richardson's book is quite good at discussing how he sorted his mental game.

Bit harsh about Jones as an ODI player though - IIRC he was pretty consistent at getting 50's at a time when a 220 score was competitive.

Ha, quite. Very keen to hold his hands up and take on the responsibility of what shouldn't be his by right when other players more able to deliver what is needed were closer at hand. With hilarious/tragic (delete according to nationality) consequences.

Anyway, 10 wicket win with 7 overs to spare:

Cricket Web's 2013/14 Premier League Tipping Champion

    - As featured in The Independent.

"The committee discussed the issue of illegal bowling actions, and believed that there are a number of bowlers currently employing suspect actions in international cricket, and that the ICC's reporting and testing procedures are not adequately scrutinising these bowlers."
    - Even the ICC's own official press release thinks things must change

Poor show by the kiwis who've really had a wretched summer.

ODI series starts on Sunday. Pretty short break really. Watling, Williamson, Mills etc will be good to have in the team.

Could hardly have been a more comfortable win, could it. Might have been different if the Kiwis had held those chances early in the innings, but even so.

I wonder if Hales will soon be pushing for a place in the 50-over side. Maybe if Bell has a poor series or two. Then again, Bell did hit a ton last time out so perhaps not. But Hales does look a decent prospect in the limited overs games.
