Boult and Southee are going to be such a gun pair in the future whenever there is swing.
    Direbirds FTW!

Isn't even much swing out there.

If they tighten up their lines they have the pace and in Southee's case, the variation to be a threat on any pitch.

Those one or two pies every over need to be eliminated first.

I can only assume Tucker thought it pitched outside of leg.

New Zealand v England, 3rd Test, Auckland, 2nd day : New Zealand can prey on England's nerves | Cricket Features | New Zealand v England | ESPN Cricinfo

when Trent Boult, finding more swing than any of the England bowlers, removed Alastair Cook and Jonathan Trott. Was it his slightly slower pace through the air allowing the ball to move? Maybe it was purely the vagaries of the ball picked out of the box.
    1. Boult is faster than the England bowlers.

    2. Maybe it's not the vagaries of the ball. Maybe it's immaculate seam position and pitching the ball up.

My only concern atm is that when Wagner comes on there'll be a huge pressure release. He really needs to bowl to the same standard that Boult has so far.

Would love to be listening to that old **** Boycott right now btw. England were going to rack up 600 on this pitch against this pitiful attack.

Should be and one of Bracewell, Wagner, McClenaghan, Henry, Milne, Wheeler will surely be an excellent third seamer at some point.

Southee's rhythm is still an issue. Boult's inconsistency last night and this morning imo just come from attacking, looking for swing and not worrying if there are a few bad balls in there - that's no problem. However Southee just clicks sometimes and other times does the opposite (not clicks? thuds?) and he doesn't seem to know why this happens or doesn't. If he can work that out he'll be an excellent bowler.

It was Reiffel wasn't it? Can't believe a bowler like him didn't just fire the batsman as soon as it got anywhere near the pads

Edit: Nah it was Tucker - you were right.

Finn and Broad at maximum pace are quicker than Boult. Those two are scary quick when they want to be.

Agreed. And it's not the time now, but I think deep point to Prior is a good position - don't let him get any boundaries through there. Not yet though, at 74/5...

Yeah, completely agree. We've bowled fuller and reaped the rewards.
