Well if you're not a couch potato then what are you? Because you certainly aren't a NZXI player!
The old "you don't have an opinion because you don't represent your country at <insert sport here>" shtick.

Damn, no more opinions for me.

It's true though

In no other profession can someone's opinion who isn't well versed and experienced in the subject be considered valid

Why would David Lloyd agree? More rubbish to prove a point!

Why is he an average player? I've already given you a reason why judging him from five years ago is flawed. He played as a spinner first up so his numbers are misleading

If you were to judge Richardson, Franklin, Styris etc on their career numbers when their more specific numbers aren't too bad when they specialised

I guess all I'm saying is this constant rubbishing of Devcich, when the last 2 years says he is a vastly improved player plus the NZ Selectors seem to think he has something about him is annoying
He averages 13 in first-class this season.
I don't need to use rubbish to prove my points. I have facts to support me, which is something you seem to conveniently ignore. Go ahead and argue that averaging 13 shows that Devcich is improving. Considering the Plunket Shield has guys like Munro averaging 120+, and proven test failures like Fulton/Papps etc averaging 60+, I think it's fair to say Devcich is an average player.

Thats because of the fundamental differences between sports and academics. Sports mostly require natural ability alongside practice with a little bit of intelligence. Therefore most "couch potato's" can form a valid opinion on what is required to be a good cricketer in a way that they never can for say politics or economics.

I was impressed with all three batsmen. Hadn't seen much of Rutherford or Devcich before but both seemed to time the ball pretty well. I guess Rutherford would have faced a bit of Finn previously with Otago in the nets. Good for him to get a look at Broad before the internationals start.

Interesting comments The guru about Devcich's rugby background. I hope you're right, as he seems to have some raw ability and timing.

I'm gutted the game was washed out, was looking forward to seeing Munro in action.

I've also been talking white ball cricket. I think he is indeed a rough diamond

I've already mentioned his very good HRV Cup and he finished behind only Sinclair (for those with more than 2inns) in last years Ford Trophy. Sinclair averaged 95 to Devcichs 90, both from 8 games

So in view he is performing nicely at the first class level in the coloured clothing and its what he has been picked for...

Welcome to the forums Mrs Devcich.
Nah look I wouldn't be surprised. Someone slated Devcich on another sports forum recently and it got around the Hamilton club scene that he'd done it, so someone actually is on the look out for Devcich bashing. If you don't actually play Hamilton club cricket though you just get slated on the forum itself and called a couch potato it seems.

I don't play club cricket in Hamilton or anywhere near Hamilton

I wish I could have all the time back that I've watched Devcich bat in First Class cricket.

Actually, thinking about it, despite having seem him bat about half a dozen times, I reckon I'd only get about five minutes of my life back.

Carry on.
