He certainly hasn't been doing the whole batting forever thing that you referred to. Been wasting starts consistently since the start of 2012.
I did see that in the first innings and against South Africa in England, yes. Surely still has it in him to play that innings if he puts his mind to it though.

Probably true. But last time he did Chris Tremlett was winning a test for England.

I'm not really sure why he's been doing it, as he's still good enough to make a nice 60. Guess he's just lost some of that initial hunger that comes around when you first start.
