Well it's cost him key wickets, and apparently when he's smacked for 4 it's allowed, not really seeing any advantage for him, and he's trying a shorter run-up to counter-act it.
It's no less trying to gain an advantage than overstepping the crease in my view.

That's the first time they've allowed it. though. Cost NZ 3 boundaries in the world cup.

Tbf, the first ever time it happened to him, it cost him a big wicket. I think things like this are much harder to get deal with than a lot of people think.
It should cost him wickets though. and an extra run. It should be a no ball.

It's not the batsmen's fault he can't sort his runup. Every other bowler in the world manages to avoid the stumps.
