Amla has opens with aplomb in ODIs and has opened in Tests a few times, whereas Tendulkar is married to the no.4 spot. I'd go with him.
Opening with Amla creates a problem at No.3. I think that Pothas' solution is probably better.

My side feels so imbalanced. lol.

My openers are potentially good youngsters.
My wicket-keeper is an ATG and is the best cricketer by a mile from his country.
Number 4 is one of his country's best bats.
Number 5 was an undisputed ATG.
Number 6 was one of the great all-rounders
Number 7 is the greatest underachiever of all-time.
Number 8 was a very useful all-rounder.
My main bowler is a decent quick bowler.
My spinner is good, played an important role in his side.
My other bowler is a semi-useful quick.

Not too bad given the comparisons.

Bishen Bedi should be Red Morgieb.

The combined effect of Miller, McKenzie, Bedi and Faulkner should be good enough to get 20 wickets against the other sides listed. And Warner, Flower, Inzamam, Miller, and Faulkner should score enough runs between them to make competetive totals.
