This is dumb though, hometown bias exists without DRS too, as we've seen countless times with India

There is really no need for him to take that role, but I guess he will. SA have plenty of good keeper-batsmen who should at least play instead of Elgar. They could even give de Kock a go. There is no reason why AB has to take that role with Elgar in the side

Does Dean Elgar brings more in as a batsman than De Kock as a wicketkeeper and batsman?
I suppose as with Sangakara, AB De Villiers would be better (seems like so, so far) as purely a batsman. |

He might have failed too - but giving him chances to grow as batsman and gain confidence on those easy tracks of UAE/SL/ZIM/BD/INDIA/PAK/WI would have been one great thing for Pak middle order but Misbah's desi insecurities would rather give those chances to YK and Asad and result is the first series outside UAE/SL/ZIM/BD/INDIA/PAK/WI conditions and here we are. This is something I have been worried about ever since Misbah got captaincy.

How are our batsman supposed to improve against pace, seam, swing and bounce when they all play on dead pitches most of the time. Credit to our bowlers for at thriving despite the pitches in Pakistan being roads.
Is it even possible to prepare bowling pitches in Pakistan with grass on them? |

I see no reason why you couldn't have training facilities with different soil pitches. Would be expensive though |

It's hot in South Africa at times, and is usually really hot in Perth. Yet the pitches are rock hard, quick and bouncy, while they're slow and low in the SC. It's mostly to do with the soil.
I think they've transported in a lot of different varieties of turf in Dubai actually. From places like Perth, Karachi etc....Pakistan could do with getting as much practice on those pitches as possible. |

Soooo, I'm now a convert to Nufan's idea and I say we select 11 specialist batsmen in the team for the next Test. Younis Khan as our main strike bowler will give us a chance!
