Philander is clearly doing the business with the ball but Cricinfo still lists him as an allrounder. He averages under 20 with the bat in Tests and has a FC batting average almost identical to Swann. My question, I guess, isn't necessarily about Philander but when does a bowler become an allrounder and when does an allrounder regress to be a bowler?

    WTF.....played on
And smalishah's avatar is the most classy one by far Jan certainly echoes the sentiments of CW

Yeah we don't crap in the first world; most of us would actually have no idea what that was emanating from Ajmal's backside. Why isn't it roses and rainbows like what happens here? PEWS's retort to Ganeshran on Daemon's picture depicting Ajmal's excreta

There's no way SA is chasing 250+ here. And I'd back Pakistan to get somewhere around that.

I won money betting on him to top score with the odds at 49 once. Definitely makes him a batsmen in my books.

Tell you what this is a cracking Test.
"Your averages, captain, coaches and players can probably survive incompetence over a relatively short series, so if youíre going to be rubbish, make sure itís against Pakistan, Sri Lanka, New Zealand or someone."

It is as good as reason as any but perhaps the odds from the bookmakers show his promise as a batsman

Yeah, it's not only going to be a close one, it's top quality too. Admittedly I didn't watch the entire first day, but from highlights and what I've seen on days 2 and 3 it's been awesome viewing. Steyn's spell to Younis earlier was pretty fapworthy. Been a while since I saw him crank it up to the high 140s.

These two can bat as slow as they want and they have my backing for it.
