Playing Selector: THE BEST ODI XI OF THE TENDULKAR ERA
Okay guys. Here is a tribute thread and poll disguised as a team selection exercise.
I propose we select an ODI XI consisting of players who played at least 100 matches in the positions we select them between Dec 18, 1989 and March 18, 2012 when Sachin played his first and last ODI games respectively. The said period covers 6 world cups and numerous multi national tournaments. We saw ODI cricket giving up white clothing and red balls altogether and end up as day night ventures most of the time in colored clothing and white ball. The bouncer restriction rule changed a bit; new fielding restrictions and no ball/ free-hit rules entered the cricketing jargon, as did power plays. One guy managed to stay on top his game from the time germany united till iPad mini hit the markets; Let us select the Best XI of his era. I will create separate threads for specific positions. We can keep the overall discussion in this thread. |

There will be 7 polls conducted in three sets in the following order.
Set 1 Opening batsmen - 2 Opening bowlers - 2 Set 2 No 3 - 1 Spinner - 1 Set 3 Nos 4, 5 - 2 Later middle order 6, 7 - 2 Fourth bowler - 1 I am going to stick to the 100 matches in the designated position rule for all the spots except the fourth bowler's spot. Any suggestions before I post the first two polls? |

Also I'll suggest decreasing the numbers in designated position to about 50 matches. (especially because I recommend separate polls for all different batting positions). |
