the best pakistani line-up needs to have all of inzi, miandad, abbas and younis in the team. along with saeed and hanif. and imran coming in at 7. on certain pitches you would have someone like mushtaq mohammad coming in at six. pakistans five best bowlers are-were pacers and there isnt really any room for a spinner except in exceptional circumstances.

There are plenty of Saqlain Mushtaq fans on CW for very good reason. But whether a specialist spinner makes it into the team may depend on where Imran bats - No.6 or No.7.

    Something to ponder.
Len Hutton - Jack Hobbs - Ted Dexter - Peter May - Walter Hammond - Frank Woolley - Ian Botham - Alan Knott - Hedley Verity - John Snow - Fred Trueman

Victor Trumper - Bill Lawry - Don Bradman - Greg Chappell - Allan Border - Keith Miller - Adam Gilchrist - Alan Davidson - Shane Warne - Dennis Lillee - Glenn McGrath

Assuming cheats are permitted, I'll go:

    Javed Miandad
    Inzamam-ul-haq
    Salim Malik

Malik was the first player to truly decode Warne, despite his best efforts not to.

I think Warne was at the peak of his powers in 1994-95 - Gooch had the relative luxury of not playing his flipper or his more developed cricket brain.

hmm had the debate I remember in the other ATG thread. On another day I might have selected Younis Khan, but Zaheer Abbas too good and elegant for me to ignore.

Imran called Zaheer Abbas the most talented Pakistani batsman he played it with but he had the mental strength of a 12 year girl. As soon as he would have a bad patch he would run to some spiritual baba to get rid of the black magic that was effecting his form.

Crabb made a thread titled "Samaraweera: a victim of black magic?" due to his inconsistent selection despite awesome domestic stats and good test stats IIRC.

Yeah, the title was a piss-take of the title of a Viv Richards thread. "Master of black magic?" I believe that one was called. It might have been Sobers actually.

    Votes so far;

    3. Younis Khan = 12
    4. Javed Miandad =16
    5. Inzamam-ul-Haq = 15

    Mohammed Yousuf = 3
    Zaheer Abbas = 1
    Saleem Malik =1

Are people happy if I call an end to the voting?

I really can't see Mohammed Yousuf making a comeback from here unless the 'Mohammed Yousuf Fan Club' suddenly join CW in the next hour or so.
