Top 7 Spinners

Who are the Top 7 spinners in the world ATM?
Rank them.

Spinners-
Ajmal, Rehman, Bishoo, Narine, Swann, Monty, Ojha, Ashwin, Lyon, Herath, Shakib, Randiv, Jeetan Patel, Vettori, Harbhajan, Mendis, Sunny, Tahir, Gazi, Afridi ....
(may have missed a potential top 7)

IMO

1) Ajmal
2) Swann
3) Monty
4) Herath
5) Rehman
6) Shakib
7) Ojha

(based on observation, not stats)

This should be fun

Fmd Swann. You've all bought the bull****. You'd like to face him for a living.

That sounds about good. Might swap Herath with Monty, but putting things in context and all, fine either way. Maybe Swann should drop a little lower?

I rate Shakib higher, but he's gone off form lately

Ajmal did nothing in Australia, NZ and South Africa. Needs to prove himself before claiming any titles.

I have not seen any other spinner in the world put as many revs on the ball as him. Moreover, he consistently tosses it up regardless of being hit for a 6 or two

Only one other overseas spinner in 35 years has taken 20 wickets in a series in India (Saqlain Mushtaq) so he must have something about him. Or are you saying India can't play spin?

Yeah, agreed.

Ajmal is the stand out followed by 5/6 on a similar sort of level. Can probably place Swann ahead of the rest behind Ajmal as he has performed relatively consistently for a while now, but this bunch of spinners can all out perform each other depending on the conditions.

Lot of left arm spinners around these days for some reason, btw.

Herath seems to be the stand out at the moment, Swann has performed quite well, Ajmal has been good in the UAE and WI, Monty has been reasonable. Narine has performed on occasions. Lyon has done well on the tracks he has played on. But I dont think you can do a good comparision because of the differences in conditions faced.

1. Ajmal
2. Swann
3. Herath
4. Rehman
5. Panesar
6. Ojha
7. Lyon

Below Ajmal it's a bit of a lottery, and could easily reverse in the next few months. Shakib unlucky not to make the top 7, maybe I'd pick him over Lyon if I was in a different mood.

I too believe that Ajmal is the stand out spinner, followed by a few good ones ATM like Swann, Monty, Herath, Rehman and then there are the rest.

Just goes to show how ordinary the world spinning stocks are. Some very average spinners in that list.
