I get the impression from the commentary that Watling isn't anywhere near as crease bound as he used to be. Sounds like he's getting forward well.

Does Franklin always bat like this, even when scoring runs for Wellington? Drawn to a lot of things outside offstump he should ignore (or try to hit, rather than push at aimlessly), and with a curtain-rail to anything straight? Watching him it's hard to see how he can be so successful at lower levels, even if the bowling is nothing like Vernon and Dale....
Second point... I think Doug would be better trying to slog Philander than defend.... |
