Oh I wasn"t aware Beer was injured. When fit add Watson to the 20 20 team above and it looks really strong.

The injury was made public after the team was announced so I doubt he would have made it anyway. I thought the selectors might have wanted him to get some overs in the Shield so went for Doherty, Beer then got selected to play for WA, then he was ruled out for them with a minor injury.

If you add Watson, who would make way?

Reckon they're banking on SL's batting to be **** and the Aussie bowlers to find a spicy Bellerive deck more helpful than what SL will get out of it. Probably fair enough, reckon OZ will square the series.

Yeah they are value for sure, I'm not going to touch it though.

I think Australia should open with Wade and Warner today with Hughes at 3, Bailey 4, Hussey 5.

Cricinfo has it: Warner Hughes Bailey Hussey Wade.

They've been good value all series.

Though this looks a road. Decent score on the board might be enough, SL's batting hasn't been flash either this series.

Clarke just said (for those not listening) that Wade will open so yeah good move. I also think we have decent opportunity with this sort of lineup to promote a pinch hitter like Maxwell if we don't lose too many wickets early.

So Lanka has sent us in. Interesting to see if the batsmen can stand up today.

Main interest will be seeing which batsmen are likely to be picked for the CT in England so they will be on show. Selectors probably still don't know the makeup of the best team.

Have put some money on it.

Might seem odd to bowl first on this deck but I reckon with such a top heavy batting order and the fact that besides Nuwan, Malinga and Herath they've got to send down 20 less-than-stellar overs that they'd back themselves a lot more to chase.

Yeah, hard to fathom that one. When Maxwell was speculated for Watson in the test it was hard to justify replacing a no.4 bat with a no.7 just because he bowls crappy off spin that was supposedly needed to make up for Watto's overs.

This is even harder to credit though. Yet another bits and pieces player in our odi team at the expense of a specialist. Personally would like to see Usman given another go. Btw I don't know if the pitch is that spicy if Dilshan is bowling the 1st over. Mendis and Herath are also in.

I honestly can't remember a worse looking Aus ODI batting lineup.

WK batsman averaging 22
batsman averaging 31
batsman in his 4th ODI
specialist captain
batsman averaging 32 who is very weak against the short ball
unproven allrounder #1
unproven allrounder #2
