Was Voges strike rate through the tournament that high? I know his performance in the final was a strike rate of around 150, but thought most of innings were a bit lower say 130. In the BBL he looked to hit boundaries on occasions but for in this innings even 3 fingered Pete would be able to count on one hand the number of times Voges looked to reach the boundary.

Bailey's captaincy isn't brilliant but its fine and I think his batting is easily good enough to play for Australia and even though he isn't a world beater, I don't think he is the problem.

Since Voges is not a "natural" 20 20 batsman he would need more than one good season of 20 20 bbl to convince me he"ll be able to perform on the big stage. We need to select batsmen who can hit the ball over the boundary. Is Voges a better 20 20 batter than Dussey?Dussey, as crap as he has looked in the odi"s , he is our best 20 20 player.Maxwell needs to bat top 5 in this form of the game also.

We need to respect 20 20 cricket and stop picking guys who we know won"t cut it at that level just in order to give them a hit out.One good season from bbl shouldn't necessarily mean you get picked.20 20 cricket is a lot different from 50 overs cricket. You need atleast 5 bats including your keeper who u watch and say yes these guys are six hitters. A sixth bat who is a classic stroke player who can play the role of a six hitter and someone who could rotate the strike ala Mussey,Kholi,Jayawadene etc.

Yes Voges' tournament strike rate was 150. He had an excellent BBL.

Bailey has no place in the team though. Like, what basis is he selected? He isn't the worst bat, but there are better and he hasn't been selected due to his incredible form like the other bats in the team (Finch, Marsh, Voges etc). So really he's being selected as a specialist captain.

I have no problem with Voges being selected because he performed in domestic cricket. Bailey hardly stood out in domestic cricket, he hasn't earned the right to have his spot in cement and he isn't a good enough captain to warrant his primary skill to be less than alternatives.

Kusal Janith has looked good. Now for the FFS get Angelo Perera in. Just send Tharanga and Sanga out of limited overs.

I'm assuming James Faulkner will debut today, who do you think he'll replace?

I'm going to go with Shaun Marsh. I think Marsh is a fine T20 player usually but for the sake of the team Voges will be moved up to 3 where he played domestically with success and then Bailey will be listed at 4 although most likely Maxwell or Wade on there home ground will bat there to try and lift the run rate or whatever.

Time will tell chump.

Its getting to the stage where you play for Tassie you play for Australia. They have like 11 current players (if Faulks debuts) who have represented Aus.

Cowan, Cosgrove, Ponting, Bailey, Paine, Faulkner, Hilfenhaus, Doherty, Krejza, Laughlin, Bird. Only Doolan and Butterworth to go really.

Forkers Faulkner will definitely debut tonight, and I expect it to be in place of Cutters Cutting or Lockers Laughlin, although there's no doubt Australia are a bowler short as proven by having to bowl Finchers Finch. Maybe they'll drop Adam Voges??

Yeah I thought bowler short and my next selection after Marsh would have been Voges but the selectors are slightly wack on occasions and probably think he is in good form after his showing the other night. With the match in Melbourne, it probably helps Finch.
