If David Hussey was batting at number 5-6 in this lineup and our Test stars were being rested and say everyone under 33 in the country was banned from playing Cricket, he'd be a reasonable choice; but as it stands..
I don't really have a problem with him batting six in this lineup even at full strength but he shouldn't ever be batting in the top four internationally; his technique has always been suspect and it's been getting worse and worse.

Squad for the first two T20 matches:

Bailey (C), Cutting, Doherty, Faulkner, Finch, Laughlin, Marsh, Maxwell, Starc, Voges, Wade, Warner.

I rate this squad. Pleased for Faulkner and its good to see big bash form rewarded. Rohrer slightly unlucky to be edged out by Voges.

Yeah I was being slightly dramatic. I don't hate him at 6.

What I don't really get is that Bailey batted at 4 in the first ODI and scored an excellent 89, with Hussey coming in after the platform had been set and creamed them. Next game with Khawaja unfairly dropped Bailey batted 3, Hussey 4 with no success.

So why did Dussey remain at 4 and Bailey moved to 5 when Clarke returned. Seems odd.

i'd probably leave faulkner out of that

Warner
Marsh
Finch
Voges
Bailey
Maxwell
Wade
Cutting
Starc
Laughlin
Doherty

although yeah getting 4 overs from maxwell/voges/finch will be tricky. maybe faulkner in for maxwell to bat at 7

I assumed Maxwell would be 12th. but still, getting your full 20 out of cutting, starc, doherty, laughlin & faulkner the choker is pretty unlikely, and i'm not sure voges can be expected to fill in the gaps

I wanted this group:
Marsh
Warner
Burns
Bailey
Rohrer
Wade
Maxwell
Coulter-Nile
Cutting
Starc
Doherty (since Hogg is now done)

Laughlin
Pomersbach/other decent bat that isn't Finch

Not enough bowling there IMO. Fifth bowler is so much more important than the seventh batsman in T20 cricket AFAIC, especially when the batting of someone like Cutting or NCN is effectively as good as most specialists in a "score as many runs as possible off 5 deliveries" type situation.

In that case can Maxwell to 12th, bring Laughlin into the XI (NCN, Cutting and Starc can all bat anyway), and pull Faulkner into the back-up quick position by getting rid of the spare bat.

wait doherty over beer? gagf
The only benefit of this decision is that if Beer is going to go to India it will be good for him to get long spells under his belt playing for WA in Shield Cricket.

I hope for Bailey's sake the lack of Shield opportunity isn't going to hurt him for the Test squad. I'm not absolutely 100% convinced that he is the best option for our Test team by the way.

Just pick the Australian players out of the BBL finalists.

It's T20. They're playing for the Who Gives a **** Cup, aren't they?

If I have understood things correctly, the match was called off due to unfair conditions.... That can't be true, can it?
