Will be interesting to see what they do with the line up for the next game. Not sure if there is 11 fit players.

Tillakaratne Dilshan
Dimuth Karunaratne
Tharanga Paranavitana
Mahela Jayawardene (c)
Thilan Samaraweera
Angelo Mathews
Dinesh Chandimal (wk)
Suraj Randiv
Shaminda Eranga
Rangana Herath
Nuwan Pradeep

I presume Prasad injuried as well. I don't think he has ever played two Tests in a row in his whole career.

BTW Mendis isn't injured he has taken 15 wickets this month in OD domestic competition. He just out favour from the Test team behind Herath and Randiv. He will probably play in the ODI tour with Dananjaya and Herath rested. Though the 3rd mystery spinner is also bowling well, Tharindu Kaushal (12 wickets @ 10).

68 overs has to be one of the lowest combined batting efforts in a Test of recent times surely?

I would imagine Bangladesh may have just about beaten it somewhere and maybe one of those matches when India toured New Zealand (100 played 120 type games). Seriously awful.

Can't see how, for the life of me, anyone can seriously think Maxwell's little offspun pies are anything above a fill in at test level.

He either plays because he's one of the best six bats (,,,) or not at all.

Yep, Maxwell a great allrounder replacement for Watto....1 century from 9 times past fifty and 1.5 wkts per match in FC cricket

Although he has a demanding case for selection with 90 runs @ 22.50 in FC cricket this season

Not sure if it's been mentioned elsewhere but I just saw that after this latest Test Clarke has now hit 900 points on the ICC ratings, only the seventh Australian batsman ever to do so.

Tendulkar's highest ever rating - 898.

Clarke > Tendulkar. Like anyone didn't already know that anyway, obvs.

Drop Lyon and play Maxwell + 4 quicks

Siddle is supposedly our best bowler

Starc has taken 14 wickets in his last 2 tests

Johnson has just destroyed SL's tour

Bird looks quality

Lyon is irrelevant so let's see whether Maxwell can be a stop gap (doubt it btw) for a few overs and bat a bit

If we ever have a full complement of quicks to choose from, then it would be madness to pick Lyon so lets prepare for the future

Easy

I'm not really SL can count in this chat anyway. I mean, 3 people didn't finish their innings. that's kinda important in a lowest-overs-ever thing

Better than stealing Chris Connolly's material.

"So was Starc's omission made with a view towards the Ashes?"
"Well, we don't like to use the A-word around the club..."
