To untie the opening position, I would vote for Worrell. And I would definitely have Dale Steyn in my AT SAF XI.

IMO That perfectly balanced RSA team would beat our current WI team over a 5 Test series quite comfortably as it doesn't have a single weakness. Just check out that great depth in both batting and bowling.

It's a matter of quality over quantity, four of the top 10 batsmen of All Time and two of the top five pacers and four of the top fifteen fastmen and Greenidge was a match winner in his own right.

But yes the S.A. team is formidable indeed, though as many have pointed out in other threads, Richards and Procter never had a chance to prove themselves in Test cricket.

South Africa are shaping up to be a formidable, superbly balanced side, but I'd still have England ahead of them for the third place play-off behind Australia and West Indies.

I'll opt for Greenidge and Hunte as the openers in the WI team.

Knew there were three spots up for grabs, didn't know all three would have been so close. Hunte though was the second best opener we have produced. Will see where the next few votes go.

01. Gordon Greenidge
02. Conrad Hunte
03. Viv Richards
04. Brian Lara
05. George Headley
06. Garfield Sobers
07. Clyde Walcott
08. Malcolm Marshall
09. Michael Holding
10. Joel Garner
11. Curtly Ambrose

Middle order should be:

Headley
Richards
Lara

imo.

I think it's a tie between Hunte and Worrell. Agree with the above post about the middle order: Headley at number 3 too awesome to miss. The oddity here is that all three of them have awesome records at number 3. Lara himself said that he most preferred the number 5 position but the stats don't bear that out.

Yea it is still tied btwn Hunte and Worrell, so was waiting for a two vote majority but will go with who of the two gets the next vote.

Headley inho opnion should always be at three for the W.I., or what ever team he plays for in the absence of Bradman. He was that good.

Looking forward to completing the South Africa team next.
