the first two picks are easy.
Tendulkar
Miandad
the next one is tough. Imran Khan is porbably batting too high at 6, but if Dev and a good keeper/batsman are selected I think it may be manageable. Therfore..

Perhaps we should've just made Engineer open instead of Sehwag.

Or maybe Mankad? averaged 40 opening and can be a front line spinner
If only Sanga was Ind-Pak the team would have great balance. I might be tempted to pick Inzi @6 and get Kapil for Waqar. Waqar real value is with the old ball but with Imran and Wasin already there that area seems to be covered. Also Kapil could do the role of the workhorse allowing Wasim and Imran to keep charging in whenever they are required.
There's no way you could leave Waqar out.
I'd rather Waqar in than Kapil, with Imran down at 7 or 8, and the attack being
Wasim
Waqar
Imran
Spinner
Will change my vote for #6 from Imran to Inzamam
And smalishah's avatar is the most classy one by far Jan certainly echoes the sentiments of CW
Yeah we don't crap in the first world; most of us would actually have no idea what that was emanating from Ajmal's backside. Why isn't it roses and rainbows like what happens here? PEWS's retort to Ganeshran on Daemon's picture depicting Ajmal's excreta

It seems we have these options available now-
1. Sunil Gavaskar
2. Virender Sehwag
3. Rahul Dravid
4. Sachin Tendulkar
5. Javed Miandad
6. Imran Khan / Inzamam / Imran / Mushtaq
7. Kapil Dev / Imran Khan / Engineer / Imran
8. Syed Kirmani / Syed Kirmani / Wasim / Kirmani
9. Wasim Akram / Wasim / Waqar / Wasim
10. Waqar Younis / Waqar / A Spinner / Waqar
11. A Spinner / A Spinner / 2nd Spinner / A Spinner
For first option, along with Imran, Wasim and Waqar, Kapil's addition is a bit overkill for me. For second option, fifth bowler is an issue. For third option, there is not much batting depth in the line up although bowling combination is great with frontline 3 pace and 2 spin options. Fourth option is the best combination because the team has got everything and can't find any weakness there. Just my two cents.

You have got to earn the right to be aggressive.
I agree. Your option 4 is the most balanced team. You've got the 3 'must have' fast-bowlers, 2 contrasting spinners, the best keeper to come out of Asia, and excellent batting depth. Still miss Kapil Dev though. Legend.
Note: If anyone can find some video of Mushtaq Mohammed bowling then that would be great.
01. Sunil Gavaskar
02. Virender Sehwag
03. Rahul Dravid
04. Sachin Tendulkar
05. Javed Miandad
06. Mushtaq Mohammed
07. Imran Khan
08. Syed Kirmani
09. Wasim Akram
10. Saqlain Mushtaq/Erapalli Prasanna/Anil Kumble etc
11. Waqar Younis

1945-1977 ATG Draft: Desmond Haynes - Roy Fredericks - Rohan Kanhai - Neil Harvey - Clive Lloyd - Asif Iqbal - John Waite - Ray Lindwall - Garth McKenzie - John Snow - Derek Underwood
ATG XI: Jack Hobbs - Len Hutton - Don Bradman - Brian Lara - Graham Pollock - Gary Sobers - Alan Knott - Malcolm Marshall - Shane Warne - Dennis Lillee- Sydney Barnes
The problem with picking Inzi or someone over Imran is that while it would improve the batting, the bowling would be kinda compromised too IMO.

Proudly supporting the #2 cricketer of all time.
If I was picking this side from the outset, I'd go...
- Sunny Gavaskar
- Virender Sehwag
- Rahul Dravid
- Sachin Tendulkar
- Javed Miandad
- Inzamam ul Haq
- Imran Khan
- Syed Kirmani (wk)
- Wasim Akram
- Waqar Younis
- Bhagwath Chandrasekhar
But I don't think you lose that much if you include Kapil as the extra bowler really....
- Sunny Gavaskar
- Virender Sehwag
- Rahul Dravid
- Sachin Tendulkar
- Javed Miandad
- Imran Khan
- Kapil Dev
- Syed Kirmani (wk)
- Wasim Akram
- Waqar Younis
- Bhagwath Chandrasekhar
And if you wanted to be a bit more creative....
- Sunny Gavaskar
- Farohk Engineer (wk)
- Rahul Dravid
- Sachin Tendulkar
- Javed Miandad
- Inzamam ul Haq
- Imran Khan
- Kapil Dev
- Wasim Akram
- Waqar Younis
- Bhagwath Chandrasekhar
Personally like
Sunil Gavaskar
Virender Sehwag
Rahul Dravid
Sachin Tendulkar
Javed Miandad
Mushtaq Mohammad
Imran khan
Syed Kirmani
Wasim Akram
Erapalli Prasanna
Waqar Younis
Anil Kumble would also have added to the batting depth, but with Mushtaq wanted the variety of the off spinner.
