Who was the last spin bowler to be successful in Australia career wise and series wise.

I was thinking more of opposition spinners, when was the last time a spinner came to Australia and had a big impact.

Probably Kumble, in 03/04 or 07/08. Not much else apart from that, Mushtaq Ahmed did well in 1995.

Considering that the 03/04 series had pretty much consistently and absolutely flat pitches and he was bowling against one of the best batting line-ups of all-time at it's peak at home in Australia with virtually no support - Kumble's 24 wickets in 3 tests was such a herioc effort.

Remember watching the series too - can' believe it was close to a decade ago. Good times.

Would it be fair to say Swann has been about the best since Kumble and his series was only ordinary to decent?

Must be depressing to be so burnt out and cynical that you are reduced to trolling threads. Hope that doesn't happen to me.

Agree with Kumble, but who was the last finger spinner to succeed - Erapelli Prasanna back in the late 60s?

What's Murali's Ozside record like? Not flash is my guess.

Not forseeing great things for Tahir.

Swann did well when the pitch gave him a little (Adelaide, basically) but otherwise just gave Strauss a chance to shuffle the quicks.
