Might as well call it now. Top 4 pretty much set in stone.

I'd use Barrington between no.3 and no.6, depending on the situation of the innings.

Happy to call it there. Think most have voted for the middle order. Flexible middle order with Barrington and Hammond interchangeable between 3 and 4.

CRICKETWEB ENGLISH ALL TIME XI

- Jack Hobbs
- Len Hutton
- Wally Hammond
- Ken Barrington
- Dennis Compton
- Ian Botham
- Allan Knott
-
-
- Fred Trueman
- SF Barnes

Two slots left to fill. Likely to be bowlers....

Choose two of the following (or your own legitimate suggestions). I'll leave this open for a few days to allow discussion and changes of mind if needed...

Bob Willis
Brian Statham
Alec Bedser
Andrew Flints
John Snow
Maurice Tate
George Lohmann
Bill Voce
Harold Larwood
Frank Tyson
Hedley Verity
Jim Laker
Derek Underwood
Graham Swann
Tony Lock
Johnny Briggs

Jim Laker and Frank Tyson.

I thought about Tate to add some batting, but feel as though the attack really needs another fiery quick.

And even tough I didn't vote for him I feel that Wilfred Rhodes should be on the short list

Agreed. I don't think that Trueman should shoulder that responsibility on his own.

Jim laker
John Snow

Laker over Verity because they already have a leg spinner opening the bolwing so some who will turn the other way.
